FFA Team Wins Forestry Event

The Miller County FFA Forestry Team recently placed first in the Area 5 FFA Forestry Career Development Event. The event was held in Tift County, GA. The area winners advance to the State Competition February at FFA Camp John Hope, Fort Valley, GA. Brooks Watson placed first as high individual.

Miller County FFA Senior Team members who competed were Brooks Watson, Khyran Bush, Cade Outlaw, Josh Roland. The Forestry CDE’ s purpose is to foster student interest, promote silvacultural practices and forest measurement instruction in the agricultural education curriculum and provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of best forest practice instruction.

The Forestry CDE Team was trained by Mandy and Trey Long. FFA is a national organization of over 501,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
