Senior Austin Pickle’s near interception preserves shutout against Westwood. Senior Austin Pickle’s near interception preserves shutout against Westwood. On Friday, October 5, the SGA Warriors (6-1) played the Westwood Wildcats (1- 6) for their homecoming game in Damascus.

The Warriors started off strong when senior, Luke Benton, scored on the first play of the game after kickoff with a 30 yard run. They did a phenomenal job handling the ball offensively both in the air and on the ground with 327 total yards.

The defense held the Wildcats all throughout the game. The Warriors were winning 32-0 by halftime. Senior, Holden Phillips scored the only touchdown in the second half in the beginning of the fourth quarter. The final score was 38-0.

When asked about the game, head coach, Coach McFather said, “We had a good win. Especially is being homecoming. And anytime you have a shutout it is always special. Even though we had a big win, we still have some areas we need to work on, and our goal is to get better each week.

We thank all of our fans and supporters who stand behind us.” October 12, the Warriors will travel to Eatonton to play the Gatewood Gators.
