City of Colquitt Receives DCA Grant and GEFA Financing

Senator Dean Burke announced that the City of Colquitt has been awarded funding through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program from the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) along with a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA)“I want to commend DCA and GEFA for awarding funding to the City of Colquitt for improvements to existing infrastructure,” said. Sen. Burke. “I want to also recognize the work of our local elected officials because without their collaboration with these agencies this funding wouldn’t have been awarded. These projects will help our local government address neighborhood revitalization while ensuring our environmental infrastructure is updated.

Under DCA, the CDBG program “is available to eligible local governments through a competitive grant program”. The City of Colquitt will receive $625,716 for neighborhood revitalization. Additionally, the City of Colquitt was awarded $750,000 through the CDBG employment incentive program and redevelopment awards. The CWSRF financing from GEFA is one of 21 awarded projects this month. The City of Colquitt will receive a $540,000 CWSRF conservation loan for the installation of sewer mains. A loan must be paid by the taxpayers. A grant is given by the government who the taxpayers must pay for.
