Waver Perry Attends Great- Grandchild’s USMC Commissioning

Brigadier graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management. He was a 4-year scholarship recipient and a member of the Marine Corps Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). Last summer, Matt completed the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Officer Candidate’s School (OCS) in Quantico, VA. Upon graduation from OCS, Matt returned to the University of Minnesota to complete his senior year of college and then received his commission.

Waver Perry (Colquitt, GA) traveled to see her oldest grandson commissioned in the Marine Corps in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 19, 2018. The ceremony took place on the University of Minnesota’s campus. It was such an honor for Ms. Perry see this monumental event in person. As a special treat to everyone in attendance, she was the only great-grandmother in the audience.

2nd Lieutenant Matt Brigadier was joined by family and friends for this honorable occasion. Family included mom and dad (Major Jim Brigadier and Dody Perry Brigadier of Frisco, TX), sister, Victoria Brigadier (Columbia, SC), grandmothers Donna Killebrew (Frisco, TX) and Anne Brigadier (Frisco, TX), Grandfather, Col. Jim Brigadier and wife, Debbie Brigadier (Middleburgh, NY), Aunt Dee Perry Schaney and Uncle Travis Schaney (Bristow, VA), Sean and Camon Brigadier (Perrysburg, OH), and his uncle, Lt. Col. Jason Brigadier (stationed in Germany), who commissioned Matt.

2nd Lt. Brigadier is now stationed in Quantico, VA, where he is attending The Basic School (TBS) for six months.
