Seminole County Student Killed in Crash

A 16- year- old from Colquitt, was killed and three more Georgia teenagers in the vehicle were critically injured in a Jackson County traffic crash Thursday evening.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that passenger Lytodd Dewayne Wolfe Jr. died at the scene of the 5:35 p.m. crash on State Road 2 at Gordon Road.

Driver Isiah Elijah Peavy, 18, and passengers Shamal Shandrez Hopkins, 17, and Tyrec Glenn, 18, all of Donalsonville were all taken to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. All four were students at Seminole County High School and were heading to the beach for spring break.

Peavy was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Impala westbound on SR 2 and was near the Gordon Road intersection when the car traveled onto the north shoulder of the road. He overcorrected to the left, causing the car to spin counterclockwise. As it was rotating, it traveled across the center line and entered the eastbound lane. It then entered the south shoulder and began to overturn. As it was overturning, the roof collided with two trees. It then spun clockwise and came to rest right side up in a field along the south shoulder, facing north.
