Colquitt Lions Club is known to do what the International organization's logo says, "We Serve." This meeting on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, was no exception.

Lion President Terry Taylor opened the meeting at Moby Dick after a delicious lunch with a call to order, blessed the food, and all present stood for the Pledge to the Flag. The guests were introduced, and Tail-twister John Cockey extracted several fines from members who didn't know the answer to questions. Reports were read and approved.

A special donation was then presented to the James W. Merritt Jr. Memorial Library chairman, Becky Bracewell in the amount of $1000.00.

Daniel told how many great things had happened prior to coming to Colquitt, how he is enjoying living here in Colquitt with his family. He told how he was invited to join the choir when he attended college, which was a shock, since he didn't know he could sing. After much instruction in singing, and learning several languages, he was accepted to sing opera in New York. He came to Colquitt to sing and perform at Swamp Gravy and met his wife, Angela King, and they married and have one of the cutest little girls the King family ever saw.

Daniel sang three songs for the club, all a cappella. They were from Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Se voul ballare Aria: “Bob's Aria” (When the air sings of Summer) and “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” His wife was asked to sing along with him on one selection. It is seldom, if ever that we enjoy a talented singer who is capable of performing opera to Colquitt folks. It was great, and Daniel has been invited back. The meeting was adjourned.
