Peggy Fudge Smith, age 89, of Dothan, AL, formerly of Colquitt, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Birmingham following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 7, 2017, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Colquitt with Reverend Woody Farrington officiating. Interment followed in the Colquitt City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sam Goodwin, Taylor Smith, Ryan Smith, Preston Jones, Baker McConnell, and Chad Mann.

She was born May 15, 1928, to Felix Edwin Fudge, Jr. and Jewel Shaw Fudge. Peggy was married to Elton Walker Smith, and the couple worked together for many years at the F.E. Fudge and Company in Colquitt.

Mrs. Smith is survived by three children: Susan S. Goodwin of Birmingham, Alabama; Steve W. Smith (Beth) of Atlanta, and Nancy S. Jones (Wade) of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren: Sam Goodwin (Paige); Taylor Smith and Ryan Smith; Haley J. Mann (Chad); Collin J. McConnell (Baker); and Preston Jones (Caroline); great grandchildren; Owen Goodwin, Lawson Mann, Anna Louise Mann, and Mary Frances Mann; and several nieces and nephews.

Those family members who predeceased her were her parents, Felix and Jewel Fudge; husband, Elton Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Louie Hearn; brother and sister-in-law Felix and Toni Fudge; and son-in-law, Dennis Goodwin.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
