Two Vehicle Accident Injures Two


Failure to yield at stop sign caused the accident. Failure to yield at stop sign caused the accident. On Sunday, September 3, 2017, at approximately 7:20 p.m. a two vehicle accident occurred on State Route 1 (Highway 27 South) at Whites Bridge Road in Miller County.

The accident was reported, and Miller County EMS ambulances, Miller County Sheriff’s Department, Colquitt/ Miller Volunteer Fire responders and a Georgia State Patrol officers were called to the crash scene.

The Georgia State Patrol crash report states that Britton Isaac Jackson of 336 Hales Landing Road, Bainbridge, was stopped at the stop sign on Whites Bridge Road facing west. Janice L. Grant of 310 Moore Street, Colquitt, was traveling north on State Route 1.

Jackson failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign resulting in Grant’s 2009 Mazda CX-7 colliding with the front driver’s side of Jackson’s 2009 Kia Spectra EX LX. Grant’s vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway, coming to a final rest at the edge of the wood line.

Jackson and a passenger in Grant’s vehicle, Burnell Grant, also of Moore Street, Colquitt, was taken to the Miller County Emergency Room with non-life threatening injuries.

The report states that all three occupants of the vehicles were wearing their safety belts.

Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage.

Jackson was cited for failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.

Georgia State Trooper Darren Heard of the Georgia State Patrol Post 14 in Colquitt was the reporting officer.
