Roaming the Halls at MCHS

by: Autumn Cason

Last Thursday night, the Miller County High School concert band held an outstanding performance. For their end-of-the-year show, they played many different selections, one being the popular song "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy. After all of the songs were completed, Ms. Holly announced awards and special recognitions. This year the three main senior awards were the Patrick S. Gilmore Award, given to Sydney Thomas; The John Phillip Sousa Award, given to Adre'ana Etheredge; and the Band Booster Scholarship which was awarded to Arwen Anderson. There were plenty of other awards given out, but I feel like those three deserve the most recognition as these three seniors have put a lot of time and effort into the Miller County High School band during their high school career.

This coming up Thursday, May 18, the seniors do their last drive-in together, and then that night they have their Honors Night. If you plan to attend and see what each senior has offered MCHS over the years, the ceremony is at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. May 19 is their last day of high school.

Next Friday night, make sure to come support the seniors as they receive their diplomas. As long as the weather permits, graduation will be on the football field. Gates close at 8:00 p.m. to begin the commencement ceremony, so be sure to arrive early.

Like I mentioned before, after this week the seniors' prom and high school careers will be over, so I will no longer be writing updates about what is happening at MCHS.
