Lady Pirate Tennis Team Captures Area 1A Title

After going undefeated in region play, the Lady Pirates advanced to the Area 1A tournament held in Marion County on April 18-19. The Lady Pirates had a bye in the first round before defeating the Marion County Eagles on Tuesday night. On Wednesday night, the Lady Pirates defeated the Taylor County Vikings for the Area 1A Championship.

For the first round of the state playoffs, the Lady Pirates hosted the Mount Zion Eagles on Friday, April 21. The Lady Pirates swept the Eagles 5-0, which advanced them to the Elite Eight. This week the Lady Pirates will host the winner of Telfair and Commerce at Spring Creek Park. The time and date have not yet been determined. Coach Tammy Vann said, “Our girls have worked hard and played great as a team. I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts and attitudes.” One of their mottos has become “Strong Alone, Unstoppable Together.” Please come out and support our Lady Pirates as they host the second round of the State Playoffs.
