Miller County Retired Educators Hold April Meeting

The Miller County Unit of the Georgia Retired Educators Association met on April 20, 2017. The 13 members and five guests enjoyed a delicious buffet meal at the Moby Dick Restaurant. After the meal, President Allen conducted the meeting. Several updates were given. The Planting for the Future Miller County Schools beautification project boasted that 200 trees have been planted at the campus. The dedication service for the memorial trees has been tentatively set for May 21, 2017.

At this month’s meeting two Miller County High School seniors were recognized for their academic efforts. Adre’ana Etheredge, Miller County’s STAR Student for 2016-2017 school- year, and the Miller County Retired Educator’s scholarship recipient, Sydney Thomas, were introduced to the group.

President Allen then conducted the business segment of the meeting.

The next meeting of the MCREA will be May 18, 2017, at 11:30 at Moby Dick. Elementary school principal, Cleve Roland, will present the group information on the Georgia Milestones testing.

The Miller County Retired Educators Association seeks to promote education in our area as well as at the state, local, national and international levels. We also support our community in civic, humanitarian, and educational efforts. Our community is aware of our many activities through media promotions. We also promote fellowship among our members and the enhancement of our schools.
