Two Vehicle Accident

A two vehicle accident occurred Thursday morning, March 9, 2017, at approximately 5:51 a.m.

The report states that Deidra Thornton of 603 N. MLK Jr. Street was traveling south on Milford Street.

Mary H. Jackson of 817 Potter Street, Bainbridge, was traveling west on College Street.

Thornton, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign and pulled into the path of Jackson who was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion.

Thornton stated that she stopped at the stop sign. Jackson stated she had just turned off of GA Hwy. 1 onto College Street when Thornton pulled out in front of her. The area of impact was in the west bound lane of College Street and was determined by roadway evidence.

Both vehicles were towed due to functional damage, and no one was injured in the accident.

Thornton was issued citations for no proof of insurance and failure to yield at intersection of roadways.

First Class J. Swanner of the Georgia State Patrol Post 14 in Colquitt was the reporting officer.
