On April 14, Schley rolled into Pirate Country looking for another win, but they got fooled. Cole Vann controlled the mound with multitudes of strikeouts and with the help of his band of Pirates defeated Schley, 11 – 1.

Then on April 16 over in Cougar Country, it took our Pirates longer to drive over than it did to win the game in three innings. Cody Chapman was on the mound, and his band of Pirates defeated the Cougars, 15-0. Next on April 17, our Pirates defeated Mitchell County in four innings with the score of 20-5.

On Monday, April 21, prior to game time; 15 seniors were recognized for their hard work and the love of sports each one played during their four years of high school on MCHS Senior Day Recognition. Just before the game got underway, Mr. Vic Fleet was asked to come to the pitcher’s mound and throw out the first pitch on the Pirates’ new baseball field. A lot of hard work, time and money were spent getting the new field ready for Senior Recognition Day. Student athletes, parents, and Pirate fans are well pleased and grateful for all the work that has been put in for our new Vic Fleet Complex.

As the game got underway, Miller County faced Randolph Clay in a quick game, defeating the Red Devils 18-0.

On Thursday afternoon, at 5 p.m. Our Miller County Pirates had a face-off with the Terrell County Greenwaves. The Pirate Ship got a little rocky, but Captain Michael Cowart and his Mates ran a tight ship and pulled out a win and the Region 1-A Championship, defeating Terrell, 1-2. In case any of you Pirate fans did not know this information: this was the first region championship in baseball since 1986. The 1986 team coached by Coach Renza Israel went to the final four losing to eventual State Champion Clinch County. Coach Eddie stated, “Our boys did not play their best game on Thursday, but we did enough to find a way to win. Thank Goodness for the great game pitched by Michael and Cole or we would have been toast.”
