Charges filed against convicted felon for firearm violation

On Saturday, December 25, 2010, Officer Chris Medina was dispatched to Second St. in reference to Ricky Grimsley carrying a gun and frightening children with it.

When the officer arrived on scene, he was unable to locate Mr. Grimsley. The officer started patrolling the area and saw the suspect coming from the Second Street apartments to Taylor St.

Officer Medina approached Grimsley and gave him the command to remove his hands from his pockets.

Grimsley then started to walk away from the officer. At this time Medina grabbed the subject and forced him to the ground. There was a strong odor of alcohol on his person. After Grimsley was handcuffed, Officer Medina searched the subject and found a Davis Industries Model P-380 handgun out of his right front pocket.

Grimsley was taken to the Miller County Jail where he was held until warrants could be taken.

After a criminal history background was run, it showed that Grimsley is a convicted felon.

He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and public drunkenness.
