Since October 31 falls on a Sunday this year, Colquitt should plan to observe the holiday on Saturday evening, October 30, according to Mayor Jerry Chapman and the City Council members. Mayor Chapman says families may trick or treat Saturday evening and should plan to wrap up the festivities between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

However, the merchants in downtown Colquitt are holding their annual trickor treat event on Friday evening, October 29. The participating retailers and businesses will give away candy between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. All costumed youngsters under the age of 12 are encouraged to participate. Also, the residents and staff at Miller Nursing Home want to extend a special invitation to trick-or-treaters to come by and visit with them on Friday.

Then on Monday evening, November 1, the Miller County PTO will be having its annual Fall Festival from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The festival will take place at Spring Creek Park. Admission to the festival is $1.00. The kids will be able to purchase an arm bracelet for $10.00 which will include games and admission, or you may purchase individual tickets for $1.00.

At 6:00 p.m., a costume contest will be held. Preregistration is required for all Miller County students. Younger children not in school will be able to register from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the day of the festival. A punt, pass and kick competition will also be held at 6:00 p.m. at the park.

There will be plenty of concessions, bean bag toss, face painting, a dunking booth, cake walk, jumping fun house, and a silent auction. So come out and enjoy the fun while helping the Miller County Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization. (See festival ad on page 21.)
