Photographer exhibits talents at Calhoun Co. Public Library
Jerry Miller, Photographer
An award-winning Miller County photographer will have his works the focus of an exhibit at the Calhoun County Public Library during the month of September. Jerry Miller of Colquitt will also be the guest of honor at the opening night reception at the Edison library on Wednesday, September 1, starting at 6:00 p.m., announced Ms. Dianna Carter, Calhoun County librarian. The photographer’s most recent trip to the Glacier National Park in Montana will be shared during a slide show at the reception.
“The Calhoun County Library exhibit will include a number of different subject matter from landscapes to nature scenes to still life, with many of my best photographs from the last 5 years,” advised Miller. Although he has gathered the majority of his awards during the past 10 years, critics have singled out his works with many different top awards throughout his career that spans three decades.
Miller credits the works of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston to developing his interest in photography. “Their photos of the western United States inspired me to purchase my first camera and begin my photographic education,” Miller noted.
He enjoys capturing on film nature, wildlife, scenic, landscapes, and still life. Many examples can be viewed on his website jmillerimages.net.
The Edison exhibit is not the first time that the lifelong Colquitt resident has shared his works of art with the public. A few of the many different sites include the Southern Rivers Art Show in Camilla, the Vision Light Gallery in Atlanta, Tarrer Inn in Colquitt, and several local libraries.
The public was able to view his works, also, at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan, AL. The museum secured the display for six months.
