68 years of married bliss

Bonnie and Harry Davis Bonnie and Harry Davis Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary Friday, August 20, 2010, during a surprise celebration planned by the staff of Colquitt Alternative Care Home.

Harry and Bonnie were married in a civil ceremony in 1942. They are an amazing couple who are an inspiration to both family and friends. Mr. Davis enjoys telling the story of how he paid the Justice of the Peace $10.00 for performing the ceremony and how that was the best investment he ever made.

Family members and many friends of the couple from the community enjoyed visiting with Harry and Bonnie to celebrate this milestone in their lives.

Guests from out-of-town included: nieces, Cindy Wooten of Thomasville and Ksena Zipperer of Tallahassee, Florida, and great-nephew, Chase Osborne of Tallahassee, Florida. The couple also received many cards, gifts and phone calls from family and friends who were not able to attend.

Those from the community who supplied items to make this celebration special were the Colquitt IGA, Wiregrass Hospice, Gentiva Home Health, and The Posie Patch. They provided delicious cakes, finger foods and lovely flowers.
