Students head back
These three are ready for a great year. Students in Miller County said good-bye to summer vacation on Friday, August 13, as they put on their backpacks and headed back to the classrooms.
“The first day is going smoothly, and we’re excited to once again start a new school year,” stated Miller County Elementary School principal, Tina Brooks.
School Superintendent Robbie Phillips stated that the enrollment at all three schools remained about the same as last year; however, a total count was not yet known. “We’re anticipating another successful school year and are looking forward to another great year in our new school," stated Phillips.
Robert McIntosh, the principal at Miller County High School, said, “Everything is going smoothly, and all the teachers and students seem excited about the start of a new year. I am looking forward to another great year here at Miller County High School.”
At the middle school, Principal Frank Killingsworth commented that he, too, was excited and eager to start another great year and looked forward to working again with his teachers and students.
“We have a great group of teachers here at the middle school, and we are looking forward to great things happening once again at the middle school. Everyone seems to be excited and ready to get started on a new year,” stated Killingsworth.
Now that school is in, the Colquitt Police Department and the Miller County Sheriff’s Department urge everyone to slow down in the school zones and watch out for our children. The school zone areas will be patrolled heavily in the morning and afternoons making sure that everyone is safe.
We hope you have a happy and great school year. Study hard and do your best, and the rewards will follow!
