Vehicle accident on square causes damage

The accident happened when Mr. Liston E. Radney of a Damascus address, driving a 2010 Ford Expedition, was attempting to back northeast onto Cuthbert Street from the parking space at the Tarrer Inn.

The report stated that Mr. Radney accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal while backing. This caused his vehicle to drive over the sidewalk and strike an unattended vehicle which was parked facing southwest, inside the west courthouse square parking lot. The vehicle, a 2006 Ford Mustang, belonged to Melonie Kaye Godby, of a Donalsonville address.

Radney’s back bumper struck the parked vehicle’s front bumper and hood and also struck a lamp post.

The Expedition received slight damage, and the Mustang received extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
