FutureNow coming to Colquitt

by Terry Toole

Reverend Miller speaks for FutureNow. Reverend Miller speaks for FutureNow. After a delicious meal at Helen's, Lion President Robert Lane introduced the Reverend Benjamin Miller as the guest speaker.

Reverend Miller talked to the Lions about an organization that is coming to Colquitt and will have a constructive influence on those that FutureNow works with.

FutureNow is an organization established to make a positive impact upon the lives of teens in the public school systems. Founded in 2001 by Chris and Terri Musgrove, FutureNow has held assemblies in more than 130 schools for more than 107,000 students in the southeastern United States.

The FutureNow team first presented to Miller County in the Fall of 2006 with great results. On October 20, 2010, the FutureNow team will return to our community and minister to our teens with an all-new stage production.

FutureNow uses a twopronged approach to positive ministry among middle and high school teens. The daytime assemblies are opportunities to discuss the dangers of premarital sex, drugs, and alcohol, and to emphasize the benefits of making right decisions now that will affect the future. Through real life stories and testimonies, teens learn the reality of the impact their current decisions will make.

The students are then invited back that evening for an evangelistic, Christian assembly open to the entire community, all ages. Here the Gospel is presented, building on the foundation of the daytime presentations. While temporal choices are important, the FutureNow team is dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging students and their families to make the most important eternal choice. Following the musical production, dramas, personal testimonies, and the preaching of Scripture, those is attendance will be given an opportunity to receive Christ as their Savior.

Our FutureNow event is important, and we need your help. The Miller County Ministerial Fellowship (in partnership with the Miller County Collaborative, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the school system) is taking the responsibility for this event. We will need financial support to be sure, but more importantly we need your prayers and your participation. Help us spread the word about the event. Invite your children, your grandchildren, your neighbors. Volunteer to help at the event. Let us work together to make a positive spiritual impact for our teens.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, feel free to contact Benjamin Miller at 758-2330 or via email at Benjamin. Miller@Netscape.com.
