Suspect charged with stabbing a man three times

Colquitt Police Department has charged and arrested a man for stabbing another man three times in the stomach in a fight.

According to an incident report by Officer Scott Cleveland, at approximately 10:34 p.m. officers were dispatched to 578 East Pine Street in reference to a stabbing.

When the officer arrived, a Mr. Kenneth Roberts was sitting in a chair in the yard. Mr. Roberts had three puncture wounds to his stomach and left side.

When E.M.S. arrived, they administered medical care to the victim of the stabbing.

The report indicated that two other subjects were on the scene, a Ms. Loretta Eafford, the complainant, and a Mr. John L. Eafford, the suspect.

Sgt. Lonnie Wade stood by with the two subjects while Officer Cleveland spoke with the victim in the ambulance.

Mr. Roberts advised that the incident happened outside on the east side of the residence. The victim stated that Ms. Eafford and Mr. John Eafford had come home, and Mr. Eafford had started an argument with the victim, and it became physical.

The victim stated that Mr. Eafford stabbed him.

Investigator Richard Morgan was advised of the situation.

Officer Cleveland exited the amublance and approached Mr. Eafford and was advised that he was under arrest at the time.

Mr. Roberts, the victim, was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The scene was then taped off awaiting the arrival of the investigators. After they arrived, the scene was turned over to them for collection of evidence and further investigation. The scene was secured until the investigators took over.

After Investigator Morgan finished his investigation, he went to the jail to book Mr. Eafford, and a hold was placed for pending warrants.

John Lester Eafford, 52, black male, was charged with aggravated assault.
