Up The Creek Without A Paddle
Looks like they have finally capped the oil at the bottom of the Gulf. They keep saying it might not hold, but as of right now, they are working on a cuff that will be as tight as a politician using his or her own money.
To date, the only bad thing about changing the publishing date of this 112 year old weekly newspaper to Wednesday, is that we can't get the election results in until the next week.
If you are 80 or under, and have a computer, we put the results on our newspaper web site, so you can see it, subscriber or not.
When I first bought this newspaper in the 1970s, I was told by some of the big and little newspaper publishers that there wouldn't be a printed edition of the newspaper by the mid-80s. I got busy seeing how we might stay in business without the printed word.
By the 80s, we were one of the first to produce a newspaper with a computer. We are still learning, but from the linotype to the computer and everywhere in between, I like the computer.
By the 90s, I could see where they might have been right about printed editions, just 40 or 50 years off, so I started working on a computer website. We are right proud of ours. You can read the Miller County Liberal each week on Tuesday before I get back with the printed edition, and the longer we have a web site, the further back you can go into our archives.
Like everything we have today, it can be good or bad for us. The choice is really ours, like most of the good and bad of this world.
I have lived through a lot of ages and stages in these United States. My favorite was the 50s. My least favorite was the 60s and now.
The first time that I can remember since I got here in the mid-30s that I was afraid of losing our nation is right now.
We can sometimes get by with electing a poor president. We've done that before, but never have we had one that had absolutely no idea of how to lead a nation or name smart people to help him.
As I see it, we now have no leadership and those who are in places of leadership are either crooks, enemies or idiots. It really scares me and millions of more Americans as we see what we are fast becoming.
Since this administration, or regime has taken over, the only time I feel safe is when our leaders are on vacation playing golf. They are not even good at that.
I love history, and I believe as a great historian stated that to get this nation back on the right track, we will have to find patriotic Americans who like our forefathers said and did, have to fight to regain our freedoms.
Back when this nation started, we had God-sent people to write our Constitution and be willing to give their lives, their property and all that they had to stand behind those words. We had leaders and patriots that fought without boots in ice and snow. Their password was Victory or Death. That was the war cry of General George Washington on December 25, 1776, when they crossed the Delaware to defeat the enemy and change the Revolution from defeat to victory.
A statesman, Newt Gingrich, stated that we might have to do that again. Like all of our forefathers, like Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and those who drafted our U.S. Constitution and fought for it, we must elect leaders who can turn this nation into a United States of America under who we live and act like One Nation Under God. Hopefully, Abraham Lincoln was correct when he said, “The ballot is stronger than the bullet.”
In my opinion, if we do not go to the polls and vote these socialists, communists, and progressives out of office, and firethose they have hired, bought and appointed, we will have to fight to regain what most of us have lived in, the greatest nation on earth. It was Al Capone from Chicago who said, “Vote early and vote often
My prayer is that what is happening to us is not God’s punishment for our turning away and allowing godless enemies to get in control. If it is God's judgement, have mercy on our souls. If He is for us, we will have victory! We are a Christian nation.
