Woman hit by auto
A call came into Miller/ Baker 911 at approximately 12:49 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.
Miller County EMS, Fire & Rescue, Colquitt Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol were called to Highway 91 North at mile marker 14, just outside the city limits of Colquitt.
The report states that William D. Jones, of Mauldin, SC, was traveling south on Georgia Highway 91 in a 2002 Acura.
Felicia Shepard, 29, of a Colquitt address, for an unknown reason, darted from the west side of the roadway into the path of Jones’ vehicle. The vehicle struck the pedestrian in a not lighted portion of Hwy. 91.
Shepard was taken to Miller County Hospital by the Miller County EMS where she was later air-lifted to a Tallahassee Hospital with injuries mostly to the lower extremity.
Jones nor the passengers in his vehicle, Samandral Jones and Janae Jones, both of Mauldin, SC were injured in the accident. The report states that all three were wearing safety equipment at the time of the accident. Trooper W.R. Landrum Jr. of the Georgia State Patrol Post 14 was the investigating officer.
