One critically injured in motorcycle/tractor crash

Photo by April Bryant A two vehicle accident occurred Wednesday, July 7, on Whites Bridge Road at 6:08 p.m. Miller County Sheriff’s officers, EMS units and Fire and Rescue vehicles and officers were dispatched.

The collision occurred when Stanley Joe Wade, 55, of 30 Jeterville Road, was travelling west on Whites Bridge Road on his 2009 Yamaha MC motorcycle.

Daniel Lee Haire, 25, of 72 Grassy Flats Road, was traveling east on Whites Bridge Road in a 1997 John Deere 7710 tractor with farm equipment on front and rear of the tractor. The tractor owner was listed as Jeff Williams of 429 Highway 45 south.

According to the Georgia State Patrol traffic crash report, Stanley Joe Wade was traveling west on Whites Bridge Road on his motorcycle. Daniel Lee Haire was traveling east on the same roadway in the tractor and equipment. Both vehicles were entering a curve on the roadway. The driver of the motorcycle locked his brakes and entered into the opposite lane of travel. The motorcycle driver laid his vehicle on the side and slid into the sprayer equipment attached to the tractor. The motorcycle driver was ejected from his vehicle. Mr. Wade and his motorcycle came to rest in the eastbound lane of travel.

The motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries to the head, neck and face. The EMS stabilized the victim and transported him directly to the helicopter pad at GPS Post 14. The Lifeflight helicopter flew the victim to a Tallahassee, FL hospital.

Family members at the hospital stated that Wade sustained a fractured neck, brain trauma and broken cheekbone as well as other injuries. Wade has had a head operation and has been kept in a semi-coma with medication. He is in very serious condition.

The crash report indicated that there were two vehicles, two motorists and one injury involved.

There was minor damage to both the motorcycle and the tractor and equipment.

The report indicated the motorcycle driver had a valid license and the tractor driver had a suspended driver license.

Trooper Charles Hall of Georgia State Patrol, Post 14, Colquitt, was the investigating officer.
