Mrs. Wylene Newberry, age 88, of Colquitt died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Miller Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Colquitt First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Dean and Dr. Carl Marshall officiating. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Clenney, Tommy Moore, Glen Sheffield, Bo Everson, and Charles Thorne.

Mrs. Newberry started the bakery department at Wilkin's IGA and continued to bake cakes for special occasions for the public for over 50 years. She worked at Moore's Hardware until retirement and was a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday School Class.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam (Charles) Pickle, Colquitt; one grandson, Brian (Hayden) Pickle, Colquitt; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Abby Pickle, Colquitt; two sisters, Barbara Swearingain, Colquitt, Annette Riddley, Blakely; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Newberry was proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Newberry.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
