Two vehicle accident on SR91 North injures three

One of the passengers was removed from the wrecked auto by EMT and fire and rescue officers One of the passengers was removed from the wrecked auto by EMT and fire and rescue officers A call came in at 1:04 p.m. Saturday, July 3, to Miller/Baker E911 that a two vehicle accident had occurred at the intersection on SR 91 N. and Griffin-Sheffield Road with injuries.

Miller County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched along with Colquitt/Miller Fire and Rescue units and Miller EMS ambulances. The injured were treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Miller County Hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

According to witnesses, the 2006 Dodge Magnum SXT driven by Cory James Flowers, 21, of 526 Helms Rd. was traveling east on Griffin Sheffield Road.

A 2006 Infinti SX35, driven by Milton Lee Chaney, 55, of Unadilla, was traveling south on SR 91.

The Infinti struck the Dodge in the left driver’s side in the southbound lane. The Dodge came to an uncontrolled rest facing east on the right away of the southbound side.

The crash report indicated that there were two vehicles involved, six motorists, three injuries and three violations.

The Dodge was regis- tered to Nekia Holmes of Patio Terra, TX. Three other motorists were in that vehicle besides the driver: Answar Dermaine Holmes, 28, of Damascus, no injury; Travis Nelson, 31, of Miami, FL, no injury; Miguel Holmes, 25, of Grand Praire, TX, injured.

Both the driver, and passenger, Mable Larose Chaney, in the Infinti were injured.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were removed by wreckers.

The contributing factor for the crash was due to Flowers failure to yield at a stop sign. The three citations given were: safety restraint violation, failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign, driving under the influence. Cory James Flowers was taken in and tested for drugs.

The officer in charge of the accident investigation was Trooper Brian Palmer of Georgia State Patrol Post 14, Colquitt.
