Max Gowan was presented the certificate by Becky LaGuardia at Board of Education meeting.
Max Gowan, a fifth grader at Miller County Elementary School, recently participated in the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute's Public Safety Announcement Contest where each student had to create a DVD showing the importance of wearing seatbelts.
Thousands of students across the state of Georgia participated in this contest.
Max was the third place state winner. He received a plaque from the University of Georgia, a $50.00 check from Georgia Power and was recognized at the local BOE meeting on June 7.
Max is the son of Bill and Stephanie Gowan, and his teacher is Becky LaGuardia. Everyone is very proud of Max.
