Drowning victim recovered Monday
According to news reports, a 33 year old man visiting from New Jersey drowned in Spring Creek at about 1 p.m. on Monday, June 14.
The reports stated that Tywa Crumbie was attempting to wade across Spring Creek in the Brinson Bridge area, just off of Highway 84 west.
It was noted that Mr. Crumbie was not able to swim. He made it most of the way across before the strong Spring Creek current swept him under the water, according to a Decatur County Sheriff's officer.
The report stated that three people attempted to help the drowning victim, but were unable to save him. An 18 year old female and a 26 and 15 year old male attempted the rescue.
The Decatur Fire and Rescue, the Brinson volunteers, EMS and Decatur County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene with Georgia DNR Rangers.
The DNR recovered the body about 45 minutes later in the same location where the victim was seen to go under the water.
