MCHS top students named

Will Martin, valedictorian Will Martin, valedictorian Each year, at Miller County High School, when the final grades are calculated, two students with the highest academic core grade point averages in the senior class are recognized as the valedictorian and salutatorian.

This year Timothy William Martin, with a core grade point average of 98.667 was named 2010 MCHS valedictorian.

LeAndra Kay Kelley, with a core grade point average of 98.146 was named 2010 MCHS salutatorian.

That is a .521 difference between the two top academic students, both with very high grade point averages.

The core include four English courses, four mathematics courses, four social studies courses, and two foreign language courses.

Along with the honors bestowed on these two students, they receive $350 scholarships each, one from First State Bank of Colquitt and PeoplesSouth Bank.

Will Martin will be attending Atlanta Metropolitan College on a full basketball scholarship. He will be majoring in dentistry.

LeAndra Kelley, salutatorian LeAndra Kelley, salutatorian LeAndra Kelley will be attending Georgia Southwestern to receive her associate degree in chemistry, then move to a pharmacy school to earn a doctorate of pharmacy.

These two students acquired the two highest grade point averages while playing most of the sports offered at MCHS and being members of many of the clubs at school. They were also very popular among their peers.

Will is the son of Tim and Bonnie Martin.

LeAndra is the daughter of Tony and Dawn Kelley.

Both seniors are to be congratulated for their many accomplishments and offered best wishes in their future quests.
