2010 MCHS graduates show class

The Miller County High School new gymnasium was completely filled with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends of the 2010 Miller County High School graduates on Friday evening, June 4, 2010.

This year’s class chose the motto, “Together we have experienced life, separately we will pursue our dreams, forever our memories will remain.”

The class flower remains the red rose while the class colors are red and white.

The large crowd rose as the Miller County High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Richard Horne, played “Pomp and Circumstance,” by Elgar, and the junior marshals led the MCHS Class of 2010 under the arch and to the chairs at the end of the gymnasium.

This year’s junior marshals were Candace Adand ams, Elizabeth Bailey, Breanna Bush, Salina Diamond, Victoria Newberry, Jenna Phillips, Madison Posey, Mary Katherine Spooner, Kaycee Varnum, and Kaitlyn Worsley.

The honor graduates for the Class of 2010 were Dei’dra Beard, Ericka Benton, Whitney Cobb, Jordan Foster, Chelsea Freeman, Shakell Grant, Kelsea Grimes, Shanice Grimsley, Taylor Henry, LeAndra Kelley, Hajiangelo Malinao, Will Martin, Jordan Parker, Eddie Sells, Alan-Mickael Sherburn, Frank Sisson, Bret Snow, Jasmine Williams, LaTonya Williams, and Nick Young.

Bret Snow gave the invocation followed by Dei’dra Beard leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

The welcome was given by Jordan Parker. The introduction of the Class of 2010 salutatorian was given by Whitney Cobb Hajiangelo Malinao. This year’s salutatorian was LeAndra Kelley.

Will Martin, Class of 2010 valedictorian, was introduced by Jasmine Williams and Taylor Henry.

Each of the two gave inspiring speeches to their classmates and to the audience.

After the presentation of awards, the roll call of the seniors was given by Jordan Foster, Chelsea Freeman, Shakell Grant, and Shanice Grimsley.

The awarding of the diplomas was by Robert Phillips, Miller County School superintendent, and Robert McIntosh, Miller County High School principal, and members of the Miller County Board of Education, Sheila Freeman, Leroy Bush, Vicki Merritt, David Lovering and Terry Pickle.

The turning of the tassels was given by Alan Mickael Sherburn, Frank Sisson, and Nick Young.

LaTonya Williams followed with the Graduate’s Creed after which Kelsea Grimes read a poem to her classmates and to the crowd.

A “Senior Moments” slide show set to music by the Class of 2010 was shown to the class and their guests.

The singing of the Alma Mater by the senior class followed. Ericka Benton gave the benediction after which Principal Robert McIntosh presented the Class of 2010 to the packed gymnasium.

The 2010 graduating seniors of Miller County High School performed the traditional cap toss.
