Nursing Home News

by Suzanne Griffin

It is hard to believe that May has come and gone, and the hot days of summer are here. We have had lots of exciting activities over the past month and are looking forward to many more in the weeks to come.

During the month of May, we celebrated National Nursing Home Week with homemade ice cream, relay races, and “The Price Is Right” to name a few.

The men from Colquitt FW Baptist Church hosted a hamburger and hot dog cookout for the residents and staff. We enjoyed playing volley ball - residents against staff. We also had the Miller County High School Choir, cast from Mayhaw, and the Parish Family singing for us during that week.

The ladies from the Donalsonville Church of God were the hosts for our monthly birthday party. There are seven residents celebrating a birthday this month.

This past week we had our regular activities. Temple Praise Band came to sing for us on Tuesday. We had a special treat on Friday, Ms. Emily Tomberlin came to sing and tell us of her upcoming plans. She also shared how God has worked in her life and has given her so many opportunities over the past years.

The nursing home is in need of people or groups that would like to come and share with our residents on the weekends. There have been several over the past few weeks that have had to step down from coming, and we are looking for someone to replace them. If you or your group would like to be a part, please give me a call at 758-4235 so that we can set a time for you to be with us.

I would like to say thank you for everyone who has had part in the activities over the past weeks. It means so much to me and to our residents knowing that there are people who care and that are willing to take time to share with them. We encourage all of you to come and visit with us anytime.
