Sometimes it doesn't pay-
Two injured in wreck on bridge.
Sometimes it just doesn't pay to go to a funeral.
A wreck occurred Saturday, May 22, as two vehicles in a funeral procession collided on U.S. Highway 27 as they crossed Spring Creek Bridge.
Milas Grant Jr. was travelling north on U.S. Highway 27 in his 2003 150 Ford pickup in a funeral line.
Lola Mae Miller, 62, was driving her 1999 Buick Century just ahead of Grant.
According to the accident report, due to the other vehicles in the funeral procession slowing down, Ms. Miller slowed, but Mr. Grant did not and misjudged the distance.
The collision occurred as Grant’s truck rear-ended the auto driven by Ms. Miller.
Ms. Miller and her passenger, Cynthia Grant, 45, of Colquitt, were treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to the Miller County ER by ambulance with possible neck and back injuries. Mr. Grant complained with slight head injuries but refused to be transported after being treated at the scene by EMTs.
The accident report by Colquitt Police OfficerLonnie Wade indicated that Mr. Grant's truck sustained slight damage, but Ms. Miller's vehicle sustained considerable damage to the rear and trunk area.
No citations were issued, but Mr. Grant was advised that he would be at fault for misjudging clearance.
Two police units, an ambulance and one sheriff unit was called to the scene in the heavy traffic area.
