Twenty-four Southwest Georgia Academy students will march to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 8:00 p. m. in the Wayne Proffitt Gymnasium. Each of the graduates receiving a diploma will be recognized for his or her accomplishments and for future plans. Ten of the graduates have the privilege of participating on the program in a special way as honor graduates.

Ethan Asher Cody will begin the program with the prayer and pledge. Sarah Lindsey Oliver will give the welcome on behalf of the class. Benjamin Mark Burkett, Jillian Reece Ingram, and Danielle Spence Powell, the top three graduates, introduced by Brandi Tamar McNease, will give the main addresses: Michaelyn Teresa Newberry will give the farewell, and Jonathan Taylor Arnold will pronounce the benediction. Calling the roll of the graduates for the presentation of diplomas will be Nicholas Daniel Lawrence and Kyndal Elizabeth Andrews.

The music for the occasion will feature the two traditional marches: “Pomp and Circum- stance,” by Elgar and “War March of the Priests,” by Mendelssohn, played by Mrs. George Alto Warrick, Jr. Mrs. Arthur Joe Sloan will direct the vocal selections.

Mrs. Marcus Cleon Gibbs, senior class sponsor, will introduce the class members; then Mr. Douglas Woodham Dease, headmaster, and Mr. Jeffrey Carroll Brown, chairman of the board, will present awards and deliver diplomas.

Marshals for the occasion will be the top eight students from the junior class: Parker Montgomery Adams, Marlena Dee Collins, Anna Madison Bridges, Preston Scott Messer, Heather Marie Grebel, Joseph Caleb Fetner, Leslie Brooke Hornsby, and Maggie Marie Bridges.
