Fishing is fun for all!

Fishermen get ready for a great day of fishing and fun. Fishermen get ready for a great day of fishing and fun. The annual Miller County Fishing Rodeo was held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Haywood Pond.

There were approximately 85 people attending, with 36 children enjoying the beautiful day, free fishing and food. It was perfect weather for fishing with a continuous breeze, no rain, children’s laughter, and plenty of fish!

This year, there were four age groups which were:

Up to age 5: Miranda Cook, Liz Cook, Brodey Kelley, Konner Kelley, Kyler Norman, Elizabeth Perez, Pamela Pitts, Gabriel Sweeney, Caden Watson, Hunter Watson

Ages 6 to 8: Taylor Freeman, Krislyn Kelley, Kay- lee Norman, Jose Perez, Terriquon Ray, Savannah Sweeney, Trevion Turner, Maggie Warren

Ages 9 to 12: Allie Darley, Reid Darley, Gene Douglas, Jacquira Hopson, Joshua Lewis, Kajuanjy Newton, Kirra Newton, Freddie Perez, Austin Phillips, Josh Bryan Roland, Keenan Severson, Walt Warren

As with every annual fishing rodeo, there were plenty of fish being caught by all the children. Lunch was provided, and numerous prizes were awarded to all the kids who held the winning numbers!

Bo and Kim Haywood would like to thank all the parents for bringing their children out to enjoy this event which they hope will continue for many years! Thanks to the Miller County Liberal staff for advertising the event free, taking hundreds of photos and placing them on its website at .
