MayHaw show keeps packing them in
Craig “Queenzie Erskin” Tully, Cory “Marvin Spitznargle” Thomas, Mackenzie Pickle, Billy “Floyd B. Lloyd” Kimbrel and Terry “George Strait” Pickle coming on stage
Talking about talented folks, if you missed the most recent productions of MayHaw, it is definitely your loss.
For several years now, MayHaw, a takeoff on the popular TV show HeeHaw, has entertained thousands of visitors to our fair city. It was thought that it would be a one-time production to make money for groups like the volunteer fire department.
It didn't work that way. The production of MayHaw became almost, if not more popular than the productions of Swamp Gravy, which is the state folk life play.
MayHaw has some of the best talent anywhere. Some are better than the artists that they act like.
The mainstays of the show are three "radio personalities" that will make a dying man laugh. Any of these three "actors" would have been a hit on HeeHaw, and together, they would make most on American Idol "talent' go back to their regular jobs.
These three masters of ceremony will make a mortician smile without someone being dead. They are all three good friends that can act like something they are not, and they volunteer their great talents to help keep the Colquitt/Miller Arts Council going.
Hope you are here next season when MayHaw will again be a hit of the Colquitt productions that draws thousands to our town, even when things are tough.
Thanks to all the volunteers who share their great talents to make others laugh, cry and enjoy life.
A special thanks goes to the actors and musicians who gave hundreds of hours of their time and talents to make this Colquitt production so enjoyable and such a hit.
The Mayhaw cast consisted of Joye Bailey, Angela Chandler, Haley Chandler, Felix Grimsley, Josh Grimsley, Tammy Grimsley, Sherry Henley, Ruby Holt, Billy Kimbrel, Michael McLendon, Scott "Moose" Moore, Charlotte Phillips, Greg Phillips, Mackenzie Pickle, Terry Pickle, Jennifer Roland, Susie Shingler, Cory Thomas, Holly Thomas, Judson Thomas, Sydney Thomas, Charles Thorne, and Craig Tully.
The Mayhaw singers were Debra Atkinson, Jeff Braswell, Stuart Brooks, Laura Cerone, Brittany Fischer, Larry King, Buddy Johnson, Jessica McLendon, Michael McLendon, Terry Pickle, Debbie Sloan, and Holly Thomas.
The production staff included Kate Willis, Jimmy Holt, Bill Nelson, Boyd Phillips, Jennifer Trawick, KaCee Holt, and Matthew Tully.
There are always other unnamed volunteers who helped make this production so great for the home folks and our visitors from all around. These productions are letting people from all over the tri-state and the United States know about real Southern hospitality. Some have even made Colquitt their home.
