Accident injures two occupants of truck

A crash involving a pickup truck and a John Deere sprayer tractor was called in to E911 Tuesday morning, April 13, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The caller stated that there were injuries and the pick-up truck was under the tractor.

Colquitt/Miller County Fire and Rescue, Miller County EMS, Miller County Sheriff’s Department, and the Georgia State Patrol were dispatched to the scene on Highway 91 at Three Notch Road.

According to the accident report, Robert J. Royal of a Damascus address was traveling north on GA 91 in a 1990 Chevrolet pick-up.

Hugh Dorsey Broome III of Donalsonville was driving a 2009 John Deere tractor sprayer. Broome was attempting to make a left turn onto Three Notch Road when Royal attempted to pass in a no passing zone. Royal’s vehicle struck the tractor as it was making a left turn. The area of impact was in the southbound lane of GA 91. The final rest for both vehicles was on Three Notch Road.

The driver of the pickup and a passenger, Early Hayes, of Damascus, were treated at the scene for visible injuries and both transported to Miller County Hospital by EMS.

According to the report, Royal was cited for passing in a no passing zone. Both he and the passenger were wearing safety belts.

Both the truck and tractor received extensive damage.
