Commissioners spend over $275,000 local tax funds
In one of those Special Call Meetings, on Wednesday, March 31, the Miller County Commissioners met and spent lots of county tax monies.
The Miller County Board of Commissioners met in a special session at the Courthouse Annex to discuss the EMS Building, the relocation of the emergency services and fiscal agents for The Miller County Collaborative and the Pataula Drug Task Force.
Those present were commissioners Barbie Womble, Clyde Jinks, Jimmy (Bo) Haywood, and Frankie Phillips. Also present were Deborah Pearce and Carol Newberry.
Chairman Barbie Womble opened the meeting.
The unofficial minutes of the meeting that was held March 31, are as follows:
Motion by Frankie Phillips and seconded by Bo Haywood to sell the EMS Building located at 202 Grace Street to the Miller County Hospital Authority in the amount of $150,000.00 All members voted in favor.
Motion by Bo Haywood and seconded by Frankie Phillips to purchase the Colquitt-Miller Arts Council Building located at 159 E. Main Street in the amount of pay off of loan #33010635 at First State Bank and all legal and reality fees for an approximate total of $165,000.00. The building will be known as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Clyde Jinks abstained. Bo Haywood, Frankie Phillips and Barbie Womble voted and passed the motion.
Motion made by Bo Haywood and seconded by Frankie Phillips to relocate all emergency services to the EOC and pay all expenses of the move from special revenue funds including E911 Fund, EMS Fire and Building SPLOST funds at no more than $125,000.00. No General Funds will be used. All members present voted in favor.
Motion made by Frankie Phillips and seconded by Bo Haywood to no longer be host and fiscal agent for the Pataula Drug Task Force and the Miller County Collaborative as of June 30, 2010.
All members voted in favor. The clerk will notify the Pataula Drug Task Force and The Miller County Collaborative.
