Seminole Shellcracker Tournament & Festival
It’s time again for that time honored Seminole County tradition! Yes, the Lake Seminole Lion’s Club’s Annual Shellcracker Tournament and Festival, on beautiful Lake Seminole. This will be the 16th year for this great tournament which was turned into a combination tournament and festival six years ago.
The date for this year’s event is Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Spring Creek Park Resort, and once again there will be fun activities and entertainment for everyone. The day will start with the legendary shellcracker fishing tournament featuring big cash prizes. By 10 a.m. there will be an array of festival booths, entertainment and activities for all ages, plus a silent auction and hundreds of fabulous prizes will be raffled. This year’s event will again feature a Charity Rubber Duck Race with a $500 top prize. Get your duck numbers early and race a flock of your own!
The tournament starts at 7 a.m. with rules and boat check at 6:30 a.m. There will be breakfast available at 6 a.m., as well as live bait on sale. Anglers of all ages are encouraged to enter; some of the past winners were under 10 years of age. All entrants 12 and under will receive a T-shirt and trophy for participation.
While the eager anglers are out, the rest of us can enjoy an array of activities. Vendors offering food, crafts, gifts and activities for children will open at 10 a.m. Many local organizations will be on site to answer questions, provide demonstrations and give information on a variety of topics.
Live entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. with many local favorites ranging from individuals such as Hilary Riley, CJ Jackson, Amber Hawkins and Sierra Hill to groups including the FBC Youth Praise Band and Adult Praise Band, even members of the SCMHS Green Machine will be on hand to entertain.
