Miller County Band Earns Superior and Excellent Ratings
MCHS Concert Band rate with the very best. For the past two months, the Miller County High School Concert Band has been preparing for two big events. On March 5, the band traveled to Bainbridge to participate in the Georgia Bandmasters Association Concert Band Festival. While there, the concert band performed three pieces and were evaluated on their performance. The first piece performed was “March Zuma” by John O’Reilly; the second piece was titled “This Is My Father’s World” by Fred Allen, and the third piece was “Silverbrook” by James Swearingen. The band was awarded an overall Superior rating for their stage performance. A Superior rating is the highest rating possible for concert band performance. A week later on March 12, the band traveled to Cairo to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluation. The same three pieces were performed. In addition to the stage performance, the band also had to sight-read a piece of music they had never seen before. The band was awarded an overall Excellent rating for the stage and sight-reading performance. An Excellent rating is the second highest rating possible for concert band performance. The members of the concert band are Ashley Young, Takia Mills, Marlo Adams, Jackie Moore, Kaitlin Warren, Dynesha Bell, Krinee’Jua Hamilton, Tyissha Miller, Daniel Allen, Shelton Snipes, Josh Kimbrel, Dylan Brock, Brianna Smith, Kelly Roberts, Angela Agauyo, Joseph Brewer, Raphael Shepard, Tramara Lee, Leeland Chandler, Azeb Richardson, Jared Busby, Mark Cook, Adam Phillips, Kierra Garrett, and Kaitlin Worsley.
