Miller County Students Honored in BC’s GOAL Competition
Bainbridge College (BC) Technical Studies Division students from Miller County have been recognized for their leadership and academic excellence in the annual Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) program.
They received congratulations and their certificates from President Tom Wilkerson in front of a standing-room only crowd of family members and friends Feb. 23 at the Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center on the BC campus.
GOAL nominees from Colquitt were Yolanda George, Early Childhood Education Program; Markesha Freeman, Ruth Ann Hicks, both in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program (LPN); and Jean Brogdon of the Medical Assisting Program.
Diana Williams of Bainbridge, who is a student in the Business Office Technology Program, emerged the winner from the field of 17 nominees and will represent the college in regional GOAL competition. GOAL is designed to promote awareness of the value of technical education.
“It is an honor for a student to be nominated,” said David Maxwell, Tech Studies communications instructor who chaired the competition. “Being nominated means these students have shown that they have the leadership, academic excellence and communication skills necessary to serve as the state’s Tech Studies representative.”
