On February 24, 2010, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Sheriff H.E. Glass contacted Chief Investigator Ben Nix and advised him that K-9 Deputy Dale Mitchell and K-9 Lt. Dale Glover were given a call to a subject trying to sell long guns.

The sheriff advised Investigator Nix that the subject’s name was Clinton McCall who was trying to sell the guns, along with April Sammons. When the two deputies tried to make contact with Mr. McCall, he ran. Deputy Dale Mitchell used his tracking/ drug dog, Alan, to track Mc- Call and place him in custody. Sheriff Glass and Investigator Nix met with Deputy Mitchell and Lt. Glover at the Miller County Sheriff’s Investigation Unit where the two shotguns were turned over to Investigator Nix. Sheriff Glass and Investigator Nix interviewed Ms. Sammons and Mr. McCall that night. Sheriff Glass advised Deputy Mitchell of a residence he knew that was within walking distance of the residence where Mr. McCall and Ms. Sammons lived and that it might be where the two guns were stolen from.

When it was checked by Deputy Mitchell, it was found that the two guns had been taken from inside the residence and that the owner was not aware at the time that the home had been burglarized. Investigator Nix was aware that Ms. Sammons was a suspect in the burglary at the Mayhaw Café. When questioned about the burglary, Ms. Sammons confessed to herself and Mr. McCall being the offenders. Sheriff Glass and Investigator Nix went on interviewing the two. Mr. McCall was also a suspect in the theft of a trailer that was stolen off of Avenue Road in Miller County. When the interview was finished, Investigator Nix and Sheriff Glass followed up on information that was given in the interview and located the stolen trailer in Bainbridge where it was sold by Mr. McCall.

On February 5, Investigator Nix made contact with Investigator Terry Phillips of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and advised him that when the two suspects were interviewed, it was found that Ms. Sammons had pawned a shotgun in Bainbridge that was stolen in a burglary in Decatur County. Investigator Phillips stated that he was looking into the burglary and would call back. Later that day, Investigator Phillips called and stated he had located the shotgun and that it was stolen from a home in Decatur County during a burglary. On the same date, Investigator Nix was contacted by Seminole County where the car that the two were driving was seen at the location of a burglary there.

Chief Investigator Richard Morgan and Chief Investigator Ben Nix re-interviewed Ms. Sammons about the burglary at the Mayhaw café in Colquitt where she gave a statement. At this time the two suspects are still under investigation in Miller and Seminole County for other burglaries. Warrants were taken by Miller and Decatur County Sheriff’s offices along with Colquitt Police Department as follows:
