Highspeed is coming
Jeff Hatcher explains what is coming.
The Colquitt/Miller County Chamber of Commerce met for its monthly First Friday Breakfast, March 5. Special guests were introduced, and PeopleSouth Bank was thanked for hosting the breakfast.
Chairman Martiele Pickle welcomed the large crowd, and she asked the Rev. David Thompson to bless the meeting and the food.
The crowd enjoyed a delicious breakfast.
Chairman Pickle then asked for reports from the various organizations and city and county groups.
Chamber President Veryl Cockey introduced the guest speaker, Jeffery Hatcher, who is technology director at the Miller County Schools.
Hatcher explained what was going on with web sites at the schools, and what was to become available with high speed broadband service coming soon. He told that South Georgia Regional Information Technology Authority SGRITA was in the process of building a high speed broadband network to cover Baker, Calhoun, Early, Miller, and Mitchell counties. He told that some areas were already functioning, and other areas would be available as funds and subscriptions were requested.
Hatcher told how the local chamber of commerce offered members free web sites.
Chairman Pickle thanked Mr. Hatcher for the most informative program. She invited everyone to the World Day of Prayer to be held at noon that day at Colquitt United Methodist Church with a covered dish lunch to follow.
PeopleSouth President Sandra Womble then gave door prizes to those present, and the meeting ended.
