Peace Valley Market expanding Peace Valley Market expanding Things might be going to the dogs in the rest of the nation, but since there aren’t too many jobs available, people in Miller County are doing something about it. They are starting up their own businesses and expanding the ones they have started.

As I was driving up U.S. Highway 27 north of Colquitt last Monday, I noticed a lot of construction and land clearing. It was Terry Pickle and family getting the area ready for a meat market coming soon. The foundation for the new store was to be poured Tuesday.

If it is anything like the Pickle bunch usually does, it will be top-notch and an asset to this area. Terry is known to be one of the finest cooks in the South, be it pork or beef. He knows how to produce some of the prime porkers in this area.

Just up the highway across the road was new construction at Peace Valley where we went to get those delicious strawberries. The Ebersoles are building a store to sell their produce, and other goods that are grown and produced on the farm.

The Colquitt First Baptist just broke ground Sunday for a very large church worship center to go with their already expanded complex of buildings.

As I told one of my big city buddies, “We aren’t used to too much, but when we do it, it’s usually done right. We try to help ourselves.”
