MC Band Members participate in honor band

Four Miller County High School band students were selected to participate in the 37th Annual Southeastern United States Honor Band held at Troy University in Troy, AL. This prestigious event was held February 4, 5, and 6.
Almost 300 students from all over the southeastern states were in attendance.
Of those 300 selected were Daniel Allen, alto saxophone; Josh Kimbrel, tenor saxophone; Jackie Moore, clarinet; and Ashley Young, flute.
Josh Kimbrel, Jackie Moore, and Ashley Young were awarded chairs in the Gold Band. Daniel Allen was awarded a chair in the Silver Band. All four students are in the 10th grade at MCHS.
Over the three day event, students attended rehearsals totaling over 12 hours. They also attended concerts showcasing several top high school band programs throughout the South and of course, Troy University's Symphony Band.
Guest conductors for the clinic included Tom Brown of Jeff Davis High School, Michael Nakasone of Honolulu's Royal Hawaiian Band, and Douglas Macaulay of the West Vancouver Youth Band.
