Plans for Read Across America at MCES Set For March 2nd
The month of February will begin an exciting celebration for the students of Miller County Elementary School. The students will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the NEA’s Read across America Event to be held on March 2nd, 2010. All of these events are to help promote reading in our community and to show how reading can be fun. Here is a list of the events the students will be involved in during the month of February and March 2.
Friday, February 5-“Fox in Socks Day” • Students may wear crazy socks to school. Friday, February 12-Hats off to Dr. Seuss” • Students may wear their silliest hat. Friday, February, 19-“Get on a Reading Team”

During the week the classes will participate in different competitions. “A Pile of Coins, A Pile of Books” is one of the competitions. The students will collect coins by homeroom to help purchase books for the library. The winning team will receive a pizza party.
On March 2, MCES will host Read across America Night. There will be guest readers, Scholastic Book Fair, the MCES chorus will perform and there will be a Dr. Seuss birthday cake. We hope the parents and students of MCES will join us for this exciting event.
