INCIDENT REPORTS
Vehicle Accident
On January 27, Anthony James Griffin was parked in the Dollar General parking lot, Griffin was delivering sodas. Cynthia Torbett was backing out of a parking spot and backed into Griffin’s vehicle. Griffin was not in his vehicle.
On January 29, Justin Michael Collins was travelling east on Main Street. Collins ran off the road and hit a light pole on the south side of the street, west of the Miller County Library.
On January 30, Ricky John Smith was attempting to make a left turn onto west Geer Street at the intersection of north Cuthbert Street. Jeffrey Wayne Newberry was attempting to make a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection of North Cuthbert Street and West Geer Street. Smith misjudged the clearance and struck Newberry’s vehicle. Smith’s vehicle front driver side bumper struck Newberry’s driver side bumper causing moderate damage to Newberry’s vehicle. No citations and no injuries were reported at the time of the accident.
DUI
On January 28, John Keith Parker was pulled over via a traffic stop. Parker advised that he did not have any license; they were suspended. A very strong odor of alcohol was coming from inside the vehicle. Parker was asked if he had been drinking, and Parker advised that he had about eight or nine beers. Parker was given a road side test, and it showed positive for alcohol. Parker was placed in handcuffs and read implied consent. Parker agreed to a breath test. He was then transported to the jail. While at the jail the Intox 5000 came up on two different test interferences. Implied consent was read again, and Parker was asked for a blood test, and he agreed again. Parker was then transported to the Miller County Hospital Emergency Room where blood was drawn. Parker was then transported to the jail for booking.
Stolen Property
On January 29, Jimmy W. Hancock stated that he moved his motorcycle from his back yard of his residence to the field of his residence in August of 2009. Hancock stated that in October 2009 his neighbor told him that a white male entered his yard and stole his motorcycle. The victim stated that his other neighbor witnessed the conversation between the white male and his neighbor and overheard them talking about the motorcycle. The statements along with witness’ were taken, and the case has been turned over to the investigator.
