Gen. Beauegard Lee predicts early spring
According to the north Georgia prognosticators, the cloudy weather on Tuesday was enough for Georgia’s groundhog to predict an early spring is just around the corner.
According to the general at his home in Gwinnett County, he did not see his shadow at the Yellow River Game Ranch. The Georgia official groundhog, General Lee, attempted to climb the fence that surrounds his plantation style home. He very reluctantly emerged at 7:35 a.m., not seeing his shadow.
Folklore tells us that if the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow, we have an early spring.
There will be six more weeks of winter and an early spring for us in the South.
Our friends to the north are not as fortunate as we Southerners. Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania has predicted six more weeks of winter than their neighbors in the South.
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers, Phil proclaimed, “If you want to know what’s next, you must read my text. As the sky shines bright above me, my shadow I see beside me. So six more weeks of winter it will be.”
