Mr. and Mrs, Jeffrey Adam Ross
Jennifer Nicole Carr and Jeffrey Adam Ross were united in marriage December 19, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Charles Dennis and Rev. Kirk Loyless.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael R. Carr Sr. of Donalsonville. She is the granddaughter of the late Joe and Ilene McGowan and Ouida Carr and the late Hugh E. Carr, all of Donalsonville. The groom is the son of Mr. Lemuel E. Ross Sr. of Donalsonville and the late Debra B. Ross. He is the grandson of the late Broughton and LaVerne Bush, and the late Leamon and Christine E. Ross, all of Donalsonville.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless, A-line gown with corset closure. The beaded bodice featured a draped Princess Satin overlay with pick-ups at the side front and center back. Beaded embellishments dance across the skirt and accent the center back train. For sentiment, she wore her mother’s chapel length veil of tulle with swarovski crystals and Chantilly lace border. The bride’s childhood heirloom, a crystal tiara, completed her ensemble. The bride carried her mother’s Bible and wore her maternal grandmother’s pearl necklace and pearl earrings. The bride also wore a blue garter, which was a gift from her mom. Her bridal bouquet consisted of many red roses with the stems wrapped in red ribbon.
Ms. Ashley Carr, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor and wore a red strapless satin side ruched ball gown with beaded bodice. Other bridesmaids included, Mrs. LeAnne Ross, sister of groom; Ms. Savannah Bowen, cousin of bride; and Ms. Erin Ross, niece of groom. They each wore a red beaded strapless satin ball gown with an organza beaded inset. All bridesmaids carried white roses with red ribbon wrapped stems. The flower girl, Ms. Kaitlyn Ross, niece of groom, wore a red satin tea-length ball gown featuring bodice with wide spaghetti straps and ivory sash.
The groom’s father served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Edwin Ross, brother of groom; Mr. Michael Carr, brother of bride; and Mr. Dustin Bowen, cousin of bride. Masters Carter Ross and John Ross Hines, nephews of groom, unrolled the white flower print aisle runner for the bride.
Music for the wedding was provided by organist, Mr. Gene Houston, and pianist, Mrs. Vickie Martin. Vocalist, Ms. Angie Carr, aunt of the bride, sang “Enjoy the Journey” during the lighting of the unity candle. She also sang “In Remembrance of Me” during the serving of Holy Communion. Seven white tapered candles were lit in memory of the bride and groom’s grandparents. A personalized pillar candle was lit in honor and remembrance of Mrs. Debra B. Ross, mother of the groom, and placed in the center of the communion table. The service began with a prelude of Christmas Carols and concluded with the recessional music of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Mrs. Cindy Bowen was the wedding coordinator.
Reception. A reception immediately following ceremony was held at the Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center of Bainbridge College. A beautiful and delicious variety of food was enjoyed by all guests. The groom’s cake consisted of several round coconut cakes decorated with beautiful frog ornaments. On the bride’s table was a square four tier cake with ivory and beige filigree design filled with yellow and red velvet cake. The guests also enjoyed dancing and watching a video of the bride and groom entitled “Through the Years.”
Showers. Jennifer and Jeffrey were honored with several showers prior to the wedding. A Miscellaneous Shower was given at Friendship United Methodist Church by the ladies of the church. The Youth and their families at Friendship Methodist Church hosted a pantry shower for the couple. Several close family friends hosted a Christmas Dinner Party at the lake residence of Dr. and Mrs. Homer Breckenridge at Lake Seminole. The couple received Christmas decor for their home. Jennifer and Jeffrey received many beautiful and useful gifts at each of these showers.
