Every three years the Hospital Authority of Miller County must renew its contract on copiers. Keith Lovering, plant operations and information technology director, began researching the options available and not only saved the Authority money on the copier lease but was also able to combine other technology needs such as printers, scanners and fax machines into this same contract. As a result, approximately $24,000 - $30,000 is saved annually on expenses involved in maintaining this type of equipment. As part of the contract, the company was able to add in four color printers for our use at no extra charge. Because of the set-up of our system, it was not feasible to incorporate these machines into our network.

Ms. Georgia Ann Israel, Health Occupations teacher for Miller County High School, who is involved almost daily with our facility through her health occupations students, was asked if there was a need within the school system for these printers, and she responded with a resounding “Yes!” Not wanting these machines to sit idle, Mr. Jeff Hatcher, technology director for the Miller County Board of Education, and Mr. Lovering made arrangements to have these printers delivered to the schools. He was very pleased to be able to locate them in the following teachers’ areas: Georgia Ann Israel, Health Occupations; Sherry Calhoun, Media Center; Mandy Roland, second grade teacher; and, Melinda Bradley, intervention teacher.
