INCIDENT REPORTS
Vehicle Accident
On January 15, Brenda Espinosa was backing from a parking spot at the Shell Station. Alisa Horace was fueling at a fuel pump at the Shell Station. Espinsosa backed up and struck Horace’s vehicle. Espinosa was at fault due to improper backing.
On January 11, Karen Marrie Houston was travelling east on Main Street. Wayne D. Chambers was travelling south on Fourth Street. Chambers entered the intersection of Main and Fourth Street as Houston was going through the intersection. Chambers caused the accident for Failure to Yield Right of Way.
On January 11, Michael Anderson’s vehicle was parked in the parking area just west of Jenkin’s Mechanical. Michael Ray Lovering was parked in front of Anderson’s vehicle. Lovering backed into Anderson’s vehicle.
On January 21, Allen Wynn Whigham was traveling south on Highway 310 when the vehicle struck a deer crossing the road.
On January 18, Kenneth Bernard Cooper was traveling south on Twilight Church Road. A deer entered into the path of Cooper’s vehicle, and the collision could not be avoided.
Driving Under Influence
On January 11, Jammi C. Mc- Clendon was stopped for running off the west side of the road. Mc- Clendon was asked for her driver’s license and proof of insurance. McClendon was slow to give her driver’s license and couldn’t find her insurance card. McClendon seemed to be slow to respond to questions. McClendon was asked if she was on any medicines or anything that Officer Chris Medina should know about. McClendon advised that she was on medication.
Officer Medina then got McClendon out of the car, her movements were slow, and unsteady. Officer Medina asked McClendon if she had smoked anything and how long it was since she had smoked. McClendon advised that she had smoked crack cocaine approximately 30 minutes before the stop. McClendon was placed under arrest and then read the implied consent card. McClendon advised that she would submit to a test of her blood. After the blood was drawn, McClendon was taken to the Miller County Jail where she was charged with D.U.I. Drugs.
Obstructing Police
On January 16, Ezra Wayne Merritt was checked for weapons. When Officer Scott Cleveland attempted to pat down Merritt, he became agitated and began to jerk away and attempt to leave the scene. Merritt was advised to stop resisting several times. Merritt attempted to hit Officer Cleveland with his right elbow. Officer Cleveland immediately grabbed Merritt and pushed him against the vehicle. Merritt reached into his pocket and withdrew a glass pipe with a Brillo pad stuffed into the end. Merritt was placed in handcuffs and transported to the jail and received a citation for obstruction.
Larceny
On January 13, Gilbert S. Horton stated that the resident on Middle Street had illegal cable hooked up to his residence, and that it was sending a strong signal of some sort that could interfere with certain types of aviation equipment. Horton stated that this is at least the fifth time that this same person has stolen cable, and his company will take warrants.
Burglary
On January 12, Robert William Rizzo advised that when he went to his utility shed he found that several items were missing. Rizzo advised that he noticed the items stolen out of his shed on the previous date.
On January 15, David Wade Schoen stated that he returned home to find that his residence had been burglarized.
Damage to Property
On January 25, Janice Tabb advised that a gas pump had been damaged sometime between Saturday around 1 p.m. and the time of the call. There was no other damage found at this time, and the case has been turned over to investigations.
Theft by Taking
On January 5, Brooke Widner made contact with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a theft. Widner stated that she needed to report her cell phone stolen. Widner stated that she has moved to Oklahoma and that she came home to her parents for the Christmas holidays.
Widner stated that she had parked her vehicle at her mother’s shop. Widner stated that her vehicle was parked there several days while she was home.
Widner stated that when she got back in her vehicle on January 5, she discovered that her cellular phone and two wallets were stolen.
Widner stated that along with the two wallets her driver’s license, an empty checkbook, and a debit card were taken as well.
